Today, I saw a post by Jordan Peterson that said: “The more courage you conjure up to confront that which terrifies you, the more you can become.” Over this past week, my hospital shifts were in the field of gynecologic oncology, where I met countless women facing terminal cancer with a strength that left me in awe. One patient, just a few years older than me, met her diagnosis with tremendous grace and resilience, reminding me that fear isn’t something to run away from but rather something we can choose to face. Watching these women and their loved ones confront the unimaginable shifted my perspective, making my own fears feel small and showing me that real courage isn’t the absence of fear but the decision to keep going despite it.
