- In a small bowl, use a fork to whisk the water, yeast, and salt together. Keep mixing until you see little bubbles form on the surface of the water. Let stand until foam builds on top (~5 min)
- Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl (use the bowl of your stand mixer if you have one). Stir in the yeast mixture (medium setting on your mixer) until a soft ball forms
- Knead the dough until it is fully mixed and slightly sticky (~5-10 minutes)
- Roll the dough into a ball and place into a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a clean humid cloth and let the dough rise for ~30 minutes in a warm draft-free area
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Spread the dough on a pan as evenly as possible
- In a small bowl, mix the tomato sauce, spices, and a dash of olive oil. Spread the sauce over the dough.
- Put all of your desired toppings on top of the sauce. Top with a lot of cheese.
- Cook the pizza for 20 minutes. Broil for 1 minute.
- Let the pizza cool slightly then cut into slices and enjoy!
T I P S
- Use the hook attachment for your stand mixer
- The microwave and oven are great places for the dough rise
- You can let the dough rise for up to 2 hours if you like pizzas with a thicker crust
This recipe is quick, simple, and delicious. It is also a great recipe when you invite guests. What I love to do is make the dough in advance and then each person can put whatever toppings they want on their pizza. It makes for a fun activity and somehow the pizza tastes better when you are the one who makes it!
