Wander & Wonder

I probably inherited my love of flowers from my mom. Whenever you ask her what she wants for her birthday or anniversary, her answer is always the same: a bouquet of red roses. There truly is something special about receiving a bouquet of flowers, especially from someone you love. But unfortunately, as beautiful as flowers are, they don’t last very long (not to mention how expensive they are). Hence, my new obsession….LEGO flowers.

I had actually never heard about LEGO flowers until last year. It was a Saturday morning and Tony was coming back from his traditional bi-weekly Costco trip (one of his favorite hobbies). He told me to close my eyes and handed me a box: it was the LEGO Wildflower Bouquet. I had been having a pretty difficult week, and this gesture really touched my heart.

I now have four sets from the LEGO botanical collection, each one reminding me of a special moment (I would have many more if I had not set the strict rule to wait to receive them from others rather than buying them for myself).

I am really impressed by the detail and delicateness of these LEGO flowers. I find that they make such unique decorations and building each set is such a relaxing activity. It is pretty cool to know that you built your own flowers and that they will never wilt. As someone who loved building legos when I was younger, having a “grown-up” version which actually serves a purpose is so exciting.

I smile every single time I look at my LEGO flowers. And although I am not someone who brags a lot, whenever someone comes over it does not take long for me to point out my LEGO flowers (my grandma still does not quite understand what I mean when I say I “built” them and thinks that I made them out of clay). I am proud to say that I will never become a crazy cat lady; instead I will become/am already becoming a crazy LEGO flower lady.
