As I was filling out my whiteboard calendar for February, adding all the appointments and events for the month, I found myself thinking about the difference between looking forward to things and living in the future. I think that it is really important to have things to be excited about, especially when you have a lot on your plate. These special events, whether going to the movie theater, meeting your family members, or organizing a special date night, really motivate me to push through tough tasks. However, sometimes I catch myself counting down the days, waiting for the next big thing. I definitely want to strive for balance by letting future plans add excitement to today without making today feel like just another stepping stone. Life is still happening in the small, in-between moments, and I don’t want to miss them just because I’m focused on what’s ahead. After all, the days I once looked forward to are happening right now!
