I went out with my partner’s friends last night, and even though we all work in completely different fields and have totally different interests, it struck me how similar we actually are. Everyone talked about work stress, feeling unsure, and just trying to make things work one step at a time. We laughed about everyday annoyances, like how crowded Costco has become, and shared a few of our weekly misfortunes. We also talked about travel plans, new hobbies, and different goals we have. It felt comforting to realize that most of us want similar things in life and that everyone is just trying their best to move toward them. It’s comforting to know that when I feel like everyone else is different or that I am alone, I’m really not!
